Doug Fosnaugh inherited his love of building from his father, who seemed to always have a project going on in the family home north of Columbus. These days, his skills in building homes are rivaled only by his talent for building relationships. It all stems from his DIY mindset and unique career path to building company owner.
OUR STORY
“Homebuilding is really my second career,” he says, “as I studied accounting and worked in mortgage sales for about 10 years.” After earning his MBA, he gained experience as a project manager at a national builder, then as a purchasing manager for a large regional builder. It was in these roles that he developed the abilities to negotiate pricing, hit targets, and mitigate risk. But profit often came at the expense of customer satisfaction, which never sat well with Doug.
OUR STORY
So, in 2019 he founded Monticello Homes where customers are the ones who benefit from his wide-ranging experience and perspective. Overseeing a small, nimble team gives him the freedom to focus on delivering great homes and exceptional value without the constraints that larger builders face.
As a lifelong Ohioan, he knows the area well and has long-standing relationships with the best local contractors and craftspeople. Ultimately, it's about character. As Doug says, “What’s behind the drywall gets as much attention as the pretty paint at the finish.”
Outside of work, he coaches his sons’ soccer teams, spends time with family, and is active in church and community improvement projects.
