Gary Free has always loved a challenge. So, when a recruiter first approached him about home building as a career, he was more than a little intrigued. “I fell in love with the constant challenges the industry provides,” he recalls. “The variety of projects to tackle and puzzles to solve brings out the best in me.”
OUR STORY
For 24 years, he met those challenges head on working at large public and private building companies. Along the way, he learned nearly every aspect of the business while remaining fully involved in day-to-day operations. As he climbed the corporate ladder, his titles grew to include Finance Manager, Controller, and VP of Purchasing. Yet despite the success, knowledge, and relationships he gained as an executive, he knew that home building had even more to offer.
“At some point, I realized climbing the ladder wasn’t going to truly make me happy,” he said. “When the opportunity to own my own company with NBG came up, I jumped at the chance.”
OUR STORY
Gary opened Stonebriar Homes in partnership with National Builder Group. Together, they share a goal of making life better—for customers, co-workers, and vendors alike. Knowing that NBG provides strong financial backing and business support enables Gary to focus on his strengths. Those include building great relationships, creating efficient processes and systems, and providing outstanding customer service.
“By focusing on solving problems, reducing mistakes, and improving processes and communication, everyone wins,” he says, “which makes life better for all involved.” That’s how Stonebriar Homes is able to build high-quality homes at affordable prices, helping to make the dream of home ownership a reality for first-time buyers.
