Building company owner David Henning grew up around construction. He had the privilege of working with his father who was a contractor. It was during his time at the University of Central Florida, however, that his passion for building was ignited. “I was fortunate to have several influential professors who steered me towards the industry and introduced me to key mentors,” he says.

OUR STORY

After graduating, he got straight to work in the Florida market, with hands-on experience at start-ups as well as large, national builders. He honed his skills in all aspects of the industry, rising to the executive ranks as Vice President of Land Acquisition. “I helped bring communities from sketches and a spreadsheet to finished homes filled with families,” he recalls. Yet despite his success, he became frustrated by big building companies’ focus on financial performance instead of customer satisfaction.

OUR STORY

So, with the support of National Builder Group, he took a chance on himself and opened Explorer Homes with the shared goal of "Making Life Better." The partnership frees David to focus on customer satisfaction, pushing the boundaries of what to expect in a home by providing affordable, move-in ready homes with unique features and floor plans.

His broad and deep understanding of the business, attention to detail, and relationships with the area’s best craftspeople help ensure that every interaction with Explorer Homes is a positive one. For David, it’s not just about the home-buying journey. It’s about the whole home-living experience.
